Belly dancers have entertained at grand openings, political fund raisers, ladies organizations' luncheons, mall presentations, art fairs, restaurants, nightclubs, promotional events, BBQ's, family reunions, weddings, fairs, conventions, surprise parties. You name it, belly dancers go everywhere. All of these events are of mixed gender. We never do bachelor parties or anything similar to that. Belly dancing is art. It may be sensual art, but it is a difficult, precise art form that takes years of practice to perfect.
If you are watching a "belly dancer" and think you can just stand up and do what she is doing, she is not actually belly dancing. She is a woman wiggling in a belly dance costume. Taking a dance class from a good instructor will quickly make that very apparent. To inquire about dance classes, or for more information, or to book a show, email Zara. Remember that you are not just buying the dancer's time. You are paying for years of professional classes, expensive professional costuming, make-up, music and accessories and hours of rehearsal time. This is what it takes to put on beautifully crafted entertainment.
For any of the services below, you can choose the appropriate ambiance for your event.
There are four basic looks.
1. Tribal..... This is an authentic, ethnic look. The dancer has the traditional bare belly that one usually associates with belly dancing. For tribal, the music is primitive sounding and very rhythmic and compelling with drums dominating. See an example of this type of costuming.
2. Tribal Beledi. .....This is an ethnic, authentic tribal look with the dancer's body covered in costuming. This would be appropriate at schools or churches or with extremely conservative guests. See an example of this type of costuming.
3. Cabaret......This style is a glamorous, show business look, with the dancer wearing a beaded belt and bra (bare belly and usually some cleavage) and glamorous make-up. Think Hollywood. Cabaret music can be orchestrated and very classical sounding, or it may have a new age feel or perhaps some fusion from other influences such as flamenco or pop. See an example of this type of costuming.
4. Cabaret Beledi......The dancer wears a glamorous "beledi dress" and beaded accessories. Very Hollywood, but covered. See an example of this costuming.
Bellygrams
A bellygram is a short surprise dance, about ten minutes long for someone special on a special occasion. It's a fun gift for retirement, birthdays, or when you just want to do something special for someone. Generally, belly grams are arranged to be delivered to the work place or perhaps an employee party at a restaurant. For a small extra fee, you can get a memento that the honored one gets to keep. You can put your message on the belly dancer's veil.
The idea of the bellygram is to flirt with the "victim", put a turban on his head, treat him like a sultan and kind of put him on the spot. It is a lot of fun for everyone and something your special someone will never forget.
A bellygram is $75.00 . A $25.00 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your time spot, with the balance paid in cash, on location, before the bellygram is delivered. Your message on a veil is $20.00. Of course you may pay in full, ahead of time, if you wish. Once your date and time is confirmed, you may pay with your charge card, via Paypal. All you need is an email address. Send payment to this email address: zara540@hotmail.com
Restaurants and Nightclubs.
Restaurant and nightclub shows are generally focused on entertainment, but sometimes a cultural presentation is appropriate. Our dancers present a variety of dances which can include the sword dance, Egyptian cane dance, veil dances, tambourine dance, snake dance and flaming tray or candelabra fire dances. These are usually incorporated into a dance routine having several parts. A typical routine would include an exciting entrance, a slower prop dance, such as a veil, snake or candles, a drum solo and a finale. Usually, a tip section follows. This is the time for audience participation. The dancer entertains at each table and sometimes gets people up to try a few steps and have a few laughs. The audience loves this. It's very personal and a lot of fun. The length of the show is a general guideline depending on the size and enthusiasm of the crowd. It is best to leave them wanting more.
